Why this exists
a space for documenting my journey pursuing a master’s in sexual health—through learning, unlearning, reflection, and the ongoing process of becoming more honest with myself. it also holds an evolving portfolio of image-based work created in collaboration with other creatives, alongside a storytelling space of “heaux tales,” shaped by lived experience and the unfolding of my twenties.
growing up as a pastor’s kid, sex and anything related to it were never topics i could openly discuss. conversations around identity, sexuality, and self-expression were limited, leaving me to navigate much of it alone. as a young Black and queer person, i often didn’t see clear reflections of myself in the world around me, which made understanding who i was feel even more complex.
my path into this work is rooted in education. i’m a former high school teacher with a bachelor’s degree in human learning and development, and a master’s in instructional design and technology. i’m now pursuing a master’s in sexual health with a concentration in sexual health education, continuing to explore how learning, embodiment, and storytelling can shape more honest and inclusive ways of understanding ourselves.
